Big W has been forced into yet another small appliance recall, this time for a home brand capsule coffee machine that has the potential to electrocute users because water in the machine can leak into the electrical components.
The La Cucina Capsule Coffee Machine (models CXY-CO01 and CXY-CO01B) were sourced by Big W to be sold nationally between 15 September 2012 and 19 September 2013.
According to the recall notice posted on the ACCC's dedicated recall site, "Water may leak onto the electric parts of the coffee machine" and that "if [this]defect occurs, users may receive an electric shock during use."
People who have purchased this machine are advised to cease using it immediately and to return it to any Big W store for a full refund. Customers can find out more by contacting Big W on 1300 244 999.
