Former Retravision proprietor Chris Leahy has been promoted to national sales manager for Morphy Richards, which is distributed locally by ASKO Australia.

Leahy was the store owner and manager of a Retravision store in Greensborough, 20 kilometres northeast of the Melbourne CBD, for five years before joining ASKO as a business development manager in July 2010. After two years focused on sales in Victoria, Leahy has been promoted to a national role.

Across his almost 30-year career in the industry, Leahy has also worked for Breville, Sanyo and Thebe International in various sales roles.

Meanwhile, Morphy Richards has released the first of what is expected to be a strong floorcare range. The first model in this new category is the Morphy Richards Vorticity Bagless Cylinder vacuum (71082, RRP $599).

This model has a 2-litre canister capacity, HEPA 13 filter, one-touch emptying and a 10-metre cleaning radius. Accessories include a flood head, crevice tool and dusting brush.

Current.com.au understands that Morphy Richards will be releasing more units in its floorcare range throughout 2013. This first Voriticity model is expected to become the premium model in the range once it is complete.

The new Vorticity Bagless Cylinder vacuum features miniature cyclones in the cleaner head to increase performance.
