Seasonal brand Brivis Climate Systems has reissued a recall on two of its products due to a fire hazard.

The faulty models were previously recalled in 2008 and 2009. However, according to a statement on the ACCC recalls website, "some affected units remain unrepaired and therefore are still at risk from the fire hazard [and] Brivis are re-advertising these recalls to help reduce the number of units at risk".

The units include the Brivis Contour and Brivis Profiler Evaporative Coolers, previously recalled in 2008 due to a defect identified in the starting devices on the fan motors which may cause them to fail and catch fire. These products were sold and installed across Australia between 1 August 2001 and 31 October 2003.

The brand is also advising consumers about the recall of the Brivis AD Series and Carrier 29CB Series Evaporative Coolers, which were sold and installed between 28 August 2000 and 21 November 2003 and were previously recalled in 2009.

According to the recall notice, “the water circulating pump in these units may fail and, in extremely rare cases, property damage and/or personal injury may result.”

Consumers with concerns about affected models who have not had their unit repaired are advised to immediately contact Brivis on 1300 274 847 or visit the Brivis website.
