Winning Appliances has announced the appointment of a new CEO, sourcing its new recruit from the United States to head up the appliance retailing company. John Winning – CEO of the Winning Group, which owns Winning Appliances and websites Appliances Online and Big Brown Box – made the announcement today.

David Crane joins Winning Appliances as CEO from Texas, where he was vice president of international sales and business development for the furniture company La-Z-Boy. Prior to this, Crane had worked in Australia for two years whilst working with Natuzzi Americas and Oceania, another furniture brand.

According to John Winning, Crane’s experience in furniture retail and sales made him a good candidate for the position of Winning Appliances’ CEO.

“David’s extensive experience in sales, management and manufacturing within the furniture and retail industry across America and Oceania will be invaluable to the Winning Appliances business,” said Winning.

“His appointment follows a great year for Winning Appliances, which included the acquisition of a new showroom in Indooroopilly in Queensland and our Fortitude Valley and Narellan showrooms celebrating their first birthdays.

“David will play a vital role at Winning Appliances managing staff, maintaining relationships with suppliers and overseeing the management of our nine showrooms across NSW and QLD,” added Winning.

Crane, who is set to take on the position from 3 December 2012, said he was “proud” to join a company with a strong history in the Australian market.

“Winning Appliances offers old-world values and service in a modern environment,” he said. “I look forward to moving to Australia and taking on the role as CEO of Winning Appliances to continue the company’s consistent growth.”

Today’s news follows John Winning’s appointment to the role of Winning Appliances CEO in November last year, when John Murphy stepped down as general manager at the company after staying with Winnings for 32 years.

In June of this year, Murphy joined Bing Lee as an advisor for the cooking and whitegoods categories.
