Fisher & Paykel has today issued a recall on two models of refrigerators it manufactured between 2006 and 2007. In rare instances, an electrical connection in the freezer compartment can overheat resulting in a fire hazard.

The model numbers are: E522B and RF610.

Affected refrigerators will have serial numbers beginning with the following letter combinations: LFQ, LHQ, LIQ, LSQ, RAQ, REQ, RHQ, RKQ, RLQ, RPQ, RRQ, RUQ and RYQ.

These refrigerators were sold nationally in Australia through various retailers.

Consumers are advised to check the model and serial number of their refrigerators and then contact Fisher & Paykel to arrange a free servicing.

“If your model is affected, stop using the freezer section and tape if shut,” the ACCC advisers users. “You may continue to use the fresh food section only until a technician has serviced the freezer section. Please contact Fisher & Paykel Appliances for detailed instructions and to arrange for a free repair.”

Fisher & Paykel can be contacted on 1300 800 108 or through refrigeration.team@fisherpaykel.com.
