BSR Australia Limited, the parent company of the Betta, Betta Home Living and Chandlers retail chains, has announced the appointment of Bob Ansett as a director of the company board.

Ansett is perhaps best known as the founder of the Budget Rent a Car brand, which he grew over 25 years from a small business of two staff to an enterprise with an annual turnover of more than $400 million which employed over 3000 staff.

Following his time at Budget, Ansett went on to establish Bob Ansett Marketing, with the aim of offering marketing, franchising and customer service advice to organisations.

Speaking about the appointment was the chairman of BSR Australia Limited, Garry Thyer.

“His strong optimism combined with his professional skill and extensive knowledge will be a valuable resource for BSR Australia – Betta, Betta Home Living and Chandlers brands,” said Thyer.

“The board is looking forward to working with Mr Ansett to achieve the group’s strategic goals and to become the sought after group for independent retailers.”

Aside from his new role as director, Ansett also holds positions as the patron of the University of Queensland Business School Enterprise Project, inaugural president of the Australian Customer Service Association and chairman of the Federal Government’s Trade Negotiations Advisory Group.
