SYDNEY, NSW: Panasonic Australia has this afternoon confirmed that it recently made a number of staff redundant in order to make its local operations more efficient.

In a brief statement sent to Current.com.au this afternoon, a Panasonic spokesperson said that 18 individuals had been affected.

“Panasonic Australia has made a number of staff changes to realise operational efficiencies and better align with changing customer needs.

“This includes a number of redundancies, as well as key hires in other parts of the business. Overall, 18 employees have been affected although one [staff member] has been offered another role.

“The changes will help Panasonic continue to maintain its strong position in the market and meet the needs of its customers and partners in 2011.”

In other Panasonic news, the local office is currently completing its move from its longtime home in Belrose to a new facility in North Ryde.
