SYDNEY, NSW: VTech’s new Avant 5000 cordless VoIP phone has become the first in the world to be certified through a new programme which tests audio quality and ensures “true to life” sound.
The Cordless Advanced Technology — internet and quality (CAT-iq) programme was developed in December last year by the DECT Forum primarily so that voices travelling via broadband sound more natural than they do via 3G mobile communication or the standard telephone network.
Additionally, CAT-iq allows consumers to take advantage of features such as multiple lines, caller ID and the synchronisation of phone books and system settings.
“VTech, as the world’s largest manufacturer of cordless telephones, has reaffirmed its technology leadership position with the introduction of the first CAT-iq 2.0 certified handset,” said Chi Hoi Tong, president of telecommunication products, VTech. “The Avant 5000 model demonstrates our enduring strength in research and development, and how quickly we can turn new ideas into reality.”
There is no word yet as to release dates in Australia or an RRP, however, VTech said it expected to launch sometime this year.
