SYDNEY, NSW: The third and final rounds of the first full field PGA event of 2011, the Sony Open, will be aired in 3D this weekend as an extension of the HD and SD Fox Sports coverage.

Against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, viewers will be able to better appreciate the palm trees which fringe the Waialae Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii thanks to the immersive qualities touted by suppliers of 3D technology.

This marks the first PGA event to be videotaped and broadcast in 3D, courtesy of Sony.

Foxtel customers with a iQHD set top unit, who subscribe to the Sports Package will also be able to tune into the 3D channel 201, if they have a 3D capable TV.
