While some retailers are being crucified via the social mediascape (think Retail Coalition), others such as online trader Kogan are using email, Facebook, Twitter and blogs as research tools to access and evaluate the consumer market.

Ruslan Kogan has revealed he uses the social media forum to engage with consumers and find out what their demands are and how to meet them, which has led to the release of a new range of LED TVs.

Using his characteristic catchphrase in a statement Kogan said: “At Kogan we live technology. Part of that means doing in-depth research to know exactly what Australian shoppers want, and having thousands of conversations with our customers each week.”

“Demand in the booming consumer electronics industry is for additional features like built-in Blu-ray, and the ability to pause, rewind, and record live TV.”

Enter Kogan’s new range of LED TVs, which he is flaunting as “Australia’s lowest priced to the most feature packed”. This includes a 16-inch HD LED TV with in-built PVR for RRP $159 and a 32-inch Full HD LED TV with an in-built Blu-Ray player and PVR for RRP $749.

Every TV in the range includes a USB input and a built-in PVR.

“We’re innovating by cramming an insane amount of useful features into these TVs, removing the need for shoppers to waste money on extra gadgets.”
