SYDNEY, NSW: The homeware giant has acquired a huge parcel of land in the new 256-hectare Sydney Business Park in Sydney's outer northwest, bringing the trade network to 22 new locations for the year.
The 3-hectare cornerstone property will be located on the corner of Richmond Road and Townsend Road at Marsden Park in Richmond, according to Matthew Toohey, general manager, property, Bunnings.
Toohey told Current.com.au that the site is located on one of the prime corners of the business park and Bunnings will be lodging a development application with Blacktown City Council mid next year.
While the business park project is expected to take up to 15 years to complete in full, Toohey said Bunnings anticipates the store will open in the next 3 to 5 years. The store will provide up to 200 jobs once it's in operation, and 120 jobs during construction, he said.
“We have opened 8 stores [for the] year to date, and expect to open up to 14 new stores before year’s end as well as up to 8 trade centres,” said Toohey.
The Bunnings Group was the financial darling of parent company Wesfarmers’ end of year results and sales were up almost 4 per cent in first quarter of FY11.
