SYDNEY, NSW: Based on a mutual agreement, Ingram Micro will stop distributing Imation products to consumer channels by the end of this week.

Imation has appointed Avico as the new distributor for its retail channels, effective 1 February 2011. According to Imation consumer business manager, Des McDaid, the decision was based on the size and profitability of the account.

The accounts Avico will handle include Retravision, Betta Electrical, WOW, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, and other independent specialist retailers, such as Len Wallis Hi Fi.

“Avico is a private company owned and run by Gill Carver and has been distributing the Avico brand to the market for over 20 years and Logitech (remotes) for the past 2 years,” said McDaid.

“They have a team of 14 reps around the country, who will now represent the Imation brand Australia wide on a monthly basis. They have a very good reputation with all these customers already and are looking forward to help grow these accounts and the Imation brands within them.

“We believe Avico will give us the best representation available by store basis Australia wide and myself and Gerry are looking forward to working with them to grow these accounts again in the future.”
