SYDNEY, NSW: Popular with children of the early 1980s and Jim Beam Party Girls at the V8 Supacars, household favourite Polaroid is making a comeback in the general consumer space, with new camera and printer products planned for 2011.

The first of these releases is the Pogo printer, which is a portable photo machine that produces prints sans ink over Bluetooth on mobile phones or PictBridge on digital cameras.

The basic premise is this: carry the Pogo, about the size of deck of cards, around in your bag or pocket, take a photo on you smartphone, push the image digitally to the Pogo, and it will print it out wirelessly in about 60 seconds.

The prints aren’t enormous: 5 x 7.5 centimetres, but what’s lost in size is made up for in portability. The Pogo has a rechargeable Li-ion battery. Packs of prints come in 10 and 20 sheet sets.

The Pogo is RRP $129, whilst prints packs are RRP $6.95 for 10 and RRP $19.95 for 30.

The new Polaroid Pogo (RRP $129) is available now.
