SYDNEY, NSW: The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is encouraging businesses to attend a free seminar and webinar to discuss new regulations for mandatory reporting and recall guidelines, expected to be enforced in the new year.

Under the new Australian Consumer Law retailers, dealers, and distributors will be required to report an incident where a person has suffered death or serious injury associated with a consumer good within two days of the incident occurring.

Consumer goods installers, repairers, importers, and exporters will also be required to comply with the new regulation, which was passed as the second part of the Australian Consumer Law, under the Trade Practices Amendment Act in June 2010.

The breakfast seminar will be held in Sydney on 12 November at 7.30am. Businesses unable to attend the breakfast can register for the webinar here.
