Peter ‘Kambo’ Kambouris, the undisputed king of Perth retail, is now trading online, with his ‘clicks and mortar’ proposition going live last week. Kambo’s name is synonymous with consumer electronics and whitegoods in Western Australia, where his stores in Malaga and Canning Vale are paragons of the retail industry.

To celebrate his venture into live trading, Kambo is offering all Western Australian consumers free delivery during November. He has also organised some very good deals on some his products to entice consumers to purchase through his online site, rather than through a pure player or parallel importer.

Kambo said that for time being, until he’s sure everything is working properly, sales are only available to consumers in Western Australia. He said that of all the sales the site has thus far processed, no consumer has yet asked to pick up the product from one of the two stores.

To further improve the experience for consumers, Kambo is giving away a $500 shopping voucher to one respondent of his survey. Rather than assuming he knows automatically what modern consumers want, Kambo is asking people to tell him how to serve them better.

When asked how everything was going in his new online world, Kambo said that it was still early, but that it thought it was going to be a winner.

Also trading online now is The Good Guys. Using a very different model that involves purchasing from an individual franchisee through a centralised website, consumers are invited to choose, bargain and purchase their products online, before picking the product up from the nearest Good Guys outlet.
