SYDNEY, NSW: Panasonic has announced a bonus 3D home theatre pack to encourage 3D TV sales as its Christmas promotion, very similar to the consumer promotions of competitor suppliers.

The pack includes a 3D Avatar movie on Blue-ray disc, a 3D Blu-ray home theatre system and a pair of 3D glasses to the total value of RRP $1,348, according to Panasonic.

The promotion is extended to customers who purchase a selected Panasonic 3D TV from 1 November and 31 December. Matt Pearce, group marketing manager, Viera, Panasonic Australia said that the expanded range of larger models introduced in September, offer greater choice for consumers.

“There really is no better way to experience Avatar than watching it on one of Panasonic’s Full HD 3D Neo Plasmas.  We believe this promotion provides consumers with a really compelling incentive to embrace 3D this Christmas,” said Pearce.

Meanwhile, Sony, who announced its 3D promotion two weeks ago, has revealed its first 3D home cinema projector. The VPL-VW90ES (RRP $9999) will be available in Australia from December.

The projector employs the same technology used in Sony’s 3D Bravia televisions and has the ability to convert 2D images to 3D.

Perhaps having caught on to consumer sentiment, a pair of 3D glasses are included with the purchase.
