SYDNEY, NSW: A new online operations manager will replace David Leckstrom, who has been responsible for Myer’s digital brand presence including its corporate website, e-commerce site (gifts.myer.com.au), social media networks, smartphone services and digital marketing since June last year.

Matthew Rule, who comes with extensive experience in website operations management, will fill the position from 18 November 2010, according to a Myer spokesperson.

Recent digital initiatives taken by Myer under Leckstrom’s giudance include Australia’s first custom-published interactive magazine app for the iPad, which launched this month. The Emporium app is an interactive version of the lifestyle Emporium Magazine.

In a statement, Adam Stapleton, Myer’s general manager of marketing, said: “The Apple iPad is the perfect device for showcasing our excellent emporium magazine in an interactive and tactile format.”

“The iPad has been selling well in Myer since its launch in May. Our customers have been blown away by the form and functionality and we expect tablet sales to continue to grow through the summer. Myer is proud to be the first Australian retailer to provide its customers with a magazine iPad app.”
