SYDNEY, NSW: Western Digital (WD) yesterday launched its flagship media centre product for the Christmas rush and into 2011. The new WD TV Live Hub is a 1-terabyte unit that claims to have the broadest range of personal content.

The same size as a netbook, the TV Live Hub streams Full HD video, images and music via DLNA, HDMI or composite video. There are two USB inputs, which can be used for data transfer or for plugging in a keyboard to facilitate searching and tagging.

Through third party apps, content can also be streamed to iPads, iPhones and Android devices. Internet applications include Facebook, Flickr and YouTube.

Here’s a prepared quote from WD vice president of marketing Dale Pistilli.

“The WD TV Live Hub media center lets users create a personalized media jukebox that brings your entire personal content collection and the best of Internet content to the biggest screen in the house,” he said.

“With the WD TV Live Hub media center, consumers can take their home entertainment experience to the next level, streaming personal content to multiple rooms at the same time, so they can play a YouTube video on their HDTV screen in the family room, while sharing vacation slideshows on the computer in their home office.”

The WD TV Live Hub is available now for RRP $299.
