SYDNEY, NSW: HTC will be launching its new Desire HD tonight in Sydney. This new Android smartphone is the direct successor to the critically acclaimed Desire model, launched in early 2010.

Unlike Nokia, which can’t organise a press conference to save itself, HTC is the master of phone launches, continually releasing new handsets so that media and, in turn, the general public, can get a great idea about how the phones operate, what their best features are and who they are targeted at.

The new Desire HD model, which runs off Android 2.2, is expected to be launched exclusively through VHA, which will also be represented at the launch press conference. We already know that this handset has a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera, multi-touch with HTC sense and triple axis accelerometer.  As with all HTC handsets, the weather functionality on this phone is expected to be brilliant.
