BERLIN, GERMANY: With a $US3.6 billion factory in Shenzen almost ready to create 14 million LCD TVs a year, TCL has outlined a long term strategy within the Australian market, including a new 65-inch 3D LED television.

Speaking at the IFA 2010 exhibition in Berlin, TCL Australia general manager, Paul Widdis, has revealed a number of major projects  expected to increase the awareness of the TCL brand in the Australian market.

“On our stand at IFA we have a 65-inch 3D LED TV with passive glasses, a 42-inch 3D TV which is glasses-free and an Android TV prototype,” Widdis said.

The 3D television which can be viewed without glasses is already being sold within China for advertising and commercial applications.

“Complementing this technology are 24-inch and 32-inch brushed silver and brushed black LED TV models which will be sold in Australia for $499 and $799 respectively in the very near future. These are stylish and fashionable televisions at an affordable price,” he said.

Widdis believes the strength of the TCL business will be fully realised once the 8.5 Generation Shenzen factory comes online next year, representing a $US3.6 billion investment. The factory is the first of its kind in the Chinese market and is expected to increase capacity to 22 million units in the second year of operation.
