SYDNEY, NSW: Asking for directions on an overseas holiday using a wrinkled, ripped map will be a thing of the past for Uniden consumers who purchase a new navigator.

The new series will be released in mid October and Uniden is supporting the launch by offering a free download of a Rent-A-Map with every purchase. There are over 70 countries to choose from on the GPS website www.naviextras.com and consumers will be able to keep the map free of charge for one month.

Brad Hales, Uniden senior national marketing executive said the promotion targets the summer holiday makers.

“Whether travelling for business or pleasure this summer, with the introduction of Rent-A-Map Australian travellers can find their way around a huge selection of international destinations, without spending more than necessary on mapping,” said Hales.

“With support from Naviextras, plus the introduction of some handy new features, our new series is not only our most expandable GPS range to date, it is also our most user-friendly.”

One of the new features includes a Green Routing tool, which calculates fuel consumption and carbon emissions across a number of route options so the driver can select the journey with the least environmental impact.

The promotion runs from 16 October 2010 to 10 January 2011.
