SYDNEY, NSW: Nikon has pledged to contribute funds, products and services to Surf Life Saving Australia (SLS) to help support its water safety initiatives, education and training programs and national sporting events.

Nikon expects to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars by contributing $30 to the iconic Australian charity for the sale of every D3100 Digital SLR camera sold during the Christmas season. The D3100 was released into stores Friday last week.

“Having the opportunity to provide financial support to Australia’s most trusted and essential safety service is one we jumped at as it allows Nikon to assist SLS to perform its lifesaving duties better and assist with saving lives,” said Nick Segger, Nikon Australia senior marketing manager.

“Purchasing this camera is one simple way of encouraging Australians to be a part of the Surf Life Saving mission; by giving and getting involved. And Nikon is proud to be able to provide this opportunity.”

Funds will be used for water safety education and surf lifesaver training programs, purchasing and maintaining rescue gear and equipment, purchasing first aid supplies, and other SLS projects this summer.
