Bing Lee has issued quarter page corrective notices in Sunday newspapers after it was pulled up by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for misleading consumers about being able to watch the footy finals in 3D.

Bing Lee advertising encouraged consumers to buy a 3D television to watch the AFL and NRL finals in locations, such as Canberra, where the 3D format was unavailable and would not be broadcast, according to a Bing Lee corrective notice published yesterday in the Sun Herald.

Last week the ACCC issued warnings to consumers planning on purchasing a 3D TV to watch the grand finals on that the games would only be broadcast in 3D in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane and Perth. People living outside of these cities would not be able to watch the games in 3D, even with a 3D ready television.

In addition to the corrective notices Bing Lee said it had written to the customers it believes may have been affected, offering full refunds.
