SYDNEY, NSW: The Samsung Galaxy Tab is tipped to be a genuine iPad contender, depending on whether it hits a competitive price point, or not.

The tablet was announced on a German website for 799 euro earlier this week, and has since been a hot topic of discussion at online forums with price predictictions ranging between $200 to $1000.

Meanwhile, Samsung is staying tight lipped as it fine tunes details with mobile operators and retailers.

Samsung Australia last week said the tablet would be available “well in time” for Christmas sales and at a competitive RRP, as reported by Current.com.au.
