SYDNEY, NSW: Bing Lee will continue to retract misleading advertising that encouraged consumers to purchase 3D TVs to watch the weekend’s grand finals in areas that would not receive 3D coverage.

Bing Lee has volunteered to publish corrective notices in the Manning River Times and the Manning Great Lakes Extra later this week, according to a representative from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Notices were published in the Illawarra Mercury and the Canberra Times yesterday, the Daily Telegraph on Saturday and the Sun Herald on Sunday.

Last week the ACCC issued warnings to consumers about misleading 3D TV advertising from retailers. The games will only be broadcast in 3D in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane and Perth.

3D TV fever has been extended in conjunction with the AFL’s (lack of) result last weekend and the NRL’s grand final this Sunday.
