SYDNEY, NSW: GE yesterday announced the release of the Power Pro X5 for RRP $299. Featuring a 15x wide angle optical zoom lens it is “unmatched” within the price point.

The compact digital camera also features an electronic viewfinder in addition to the 2.7-inch LCD viewscreen, 14.1-megapixel image sensor, automatic face detection, blink detection and in-camera red-eye removal.

Speaking to Current.com.au this morning of the advantageous price point, Matt Smith from Tasco, GE’s Australian distributor, said, “For the specs it has to offer, the Pro X5 is by far the best value for money.”

“Fuji would be the only other major player out there with the S1600, offering a similar optical zoom, but it costs about $350.”

GE digital cameras are new in the Australian market, having entered a little over a year ago, said Smith.

The Power Pro X5 is available now at all major retailers for $299.
