SYDNEY, NSW: If there’s one thing that frustrates your average photography hobbyist, it’s incompatibility of memory cards with PCs. Although SD has emerged as something of an industry standard, leading camera brands, such as Sony, Samsung and FujiFilm continue to market alternate memory card solutions, while PCs now generally come only with SD card slots.
To solve this conundrum, Lexar has today released a USB card reader that supports 24 different memory cards. This new device is RRP $42, and is available through Myer, Harvey Norman, Dick Smith and Teds.
Supported card formats include CompactFlash Type I and II, SD, SDHC, miniSD, miniSDHC, MMC, microSD, microSDHC, eight different Memory Stick models, and four different xD formats.
“The range of popular devices supporting flash memory cards grows day by day and now includes everything from cameras and camcorders to mobile phones and GPS units,” said Lexar Media national sales manager, Richard Clarke.
“However, not all devices support the same format and managing the various cards can be confusing, causing consumers to mistakenly believe they need to purchase multiple card readers.
“The Lexar Multi-Card 24-in-1 USB Reader eliminates the need for multiple readers, simplifying the data transfer process for consumers from all memory card formats.”
