SYDNEY, NSW: Samsung Electronics is today officially launching its Series 9 range LED LCD TVs. This is the fourth iteration of Samsung’s LED TV range, since the Korean supplier unveiled its self-styled “new species” of TV last April.

Since the launch of Samsung’s LED LCD range, the flat panel TV category has become split down three lines, with the alternate lighting system for an LCD panel – competing with the CCFL system – now considered a separate competitor to plasma technology.

Samsung experienced very fast success with its first LED LCD range last year, even prompting established TV suppliers to introduce their first ranges of LED TVs as a result. It will be interesting to see how today’s release compares, both in terms of picture quality advancements and uptake.
