MELBOURNE, VIC: Nintendo Australia has today announced that over 1 million units of its Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus games have been sold in the local market. That means just over 5 per cent of Australians are using a video game as a substitute for traditional exercise, such as walking.

“Wii Fit Plus is a unique and innovative way to help you and your family stay fit in the comfort of your home, through simple daily exercises. More than a gaming experience, Wii Fit Plus is a health and lifestyle product

that uses a motion sensitive Wii Balance Board,” according to the breathless press release.

Other sales figures released today include Wii Play having sold 900,000 units, Mario Kart hitting the 600,000 mark and Wii Sports Resort, which has sold 500,000 units.
