The Photo Imaging Council of Australia has just announced the winners for its Gold Tripod and Retailer of the Year awards. The awards are distributed to recognise excellence in the photographic industry.

Dave Marshall, managing director of FujiFilm, was honoured with the prestigious Gold Tripod award, which recognises individuals who are prepared to work with competing companies for the good of the industry.

This is the first time the award has been given to someone serving as PICA president. Marshall was presented with the award because of his outstanding contribution to the industry when it was faced with the challenge of the change to digital format.

In addition to this, Digital Camera Warehouse was presented with the annual PICA award for Imaging Retailer of the Year. The areas judged covered staff training, window display, sales techniques, advertising and account department efficiency.

“Our winner is comparatively new to the industry. In fact they entered the fray nine years ago in the midst of the digital tsunami: a time when many retailers were quitting,” said Dave Marshall, president of PICA.

Digital Camera Warehouse attributed its success to its passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable staff, its supportive and understanding wholesale partners and a transparent business model that doesn’t reward or penalise its customers for shopping in-store or online.
