SYDNEY, NSW: Canon Oceania managed to do more than keep its head above water last year, with the company keeping its market leading position for DSLR and digital compact cameras, according to its 2009 Sustainability Report.

“Despite a challenging environment during the global financial crisis, Canon Oceania maintained its economic sustainability and number one market position through transforming the business and extending coverage to reach consumers,” said the company.

According to the report, other highlights included a 13 per cent reduction of waste to landfill in Australia, as well as a survey revealing that 93 per cent of customers would recommend the company’s products and services.

Environmental challenges have been highlighted by Canon as key concerns for the future, with the company for the first time setting a carbon emissions reduction target of 1.5 per cent until 2010.
