SYDNEY, NSW: Just two days after launching its latest raft of printers and services for Australia and New Zealand, Hewlett-Packard (HP) has been awarded an influential industry award.

The HP Imaging and Printing Group Australia announced this morning that it has taken out the GfK 2009 No.1 Award for the Multi Function Devices (MFD) category.

“HP is delighted to receive this award,” said HP Australia’s vice president, imaging and printing group, South Pacific, Richard Bailey.

“We have a very strong MFD offering in the market. HP’s innovation in printing technology is resonating with consumers, and this is reflected in the sales leadership that HP has achieved.”

The GfK No.1 Award is handed out to the top-selling brand, according to GfK retail audit data, in each category and in each country in the Asia Pacific region for the January to December 2009 reporting period.

The award must go to a brand in general distribution which is a clear winner in unit sales.
