Earlier in the week, Commercial Radio Australia released the first official industry and market data in relation to the launch of digital radio. Bush Australia has identified that it now has a 40 per cent market share in the category.

Bush Australia currently distributes the Bush, Grundig and Revo brands of digital radios around Australia. Brian Rodgers, sales and marketing director at Bush Australia, was excited about the strong take-up of digital radio, which now has around 449,000 listeners around the country.

“We are really proud of the direction that DAB+ digital radio has taken. We have had a great response from our retailers and customers,” he said.

“DAB+ has also totally exceeded our expectations and we hope to really drive the success further this year. We plan to introduce in the next few months some innovative digital products, to excite the market and hold on to our share.”

According to Rodgers, there are some key demographic differences between the Bush, Revo and Grundig brands.

Bush is positioned as the family orientated brand with a slight skew to female buyers, Revo appeals to a larger female demographic due to its unique design elements and Grundig has a high adoption rate among baby boomers.

Some of the recent additions to the line-up for Bush Australia include the Grundig Touch panel DAB+ Micro and the Revo IKON and DOMINO. Rodgers said that there has been a large amount of interest from both retailers and customers for these products.
