Microsoft has announced that starting from today, any customer who purchases Microsoft Office 2007 will be eligible for a free upgrade to Office 2010 upon its release.

Microsoft and qualified retailers will be offering the Office 2010 Technology Guarantee from 5 March 2010 to 30 September 2010. This guarantee will allow eligible customer who purchase Office 2007 in this time, to download the 2010 version at no additional software cost (when it is released).

In order for consumers to be eligible for this program they will need to purchase Microsoft Office 2007 or a new PC installed with Office 2007. The software must be activated between 5 March and 30 September 2010.

Once this has been done, consumers must then create a Windows Live ID and redeem their Technology Guarantee before October 31 2010.

Microsoft has confirmed that further announcements regarding Office 2010 will be made tomorrow, Saturday 6 March.
