SYDNEY, NSW: Breville has today been nominated for five Australian International Design Awards. The products nominated are a mixer, a grill, a benchtop oven, a kettle and a coffee machine.

All of Breville’s nominations are in the Consumer category, which is dominated this year by consumer electronics.

Nominated for Breville for the 2010 Awards is the Breville Wizz Planetary Mixer, which is described as “a diecast planetary action bench mixer with self scraping beater, whisk and dough hook, virtually eliminating the need to hand scrape the bowl, reducing mixing time by up to 60 per cent”; and the Breville Smart Grill, which is “a health grill with integrated element grill plates that can be clipped out and dropped into the dishwasher for easy cleaning”.

The other three nominations are for the Breville Smart Oven, the Breville BKE820 Professional 800 Variable Temperature Kettle and the Breville Fresca Espresso Machine with In-built Grinder.

This last product is described as “a new programmable espresso machine that converts beans to espresso in under a minute”.

A major challenge to Breville’s domination will be Kenwood, which was nominated for two awards. The Kenwood Cooking Chef was honoured for being “the first appliance to fully combine food preparation with Induction cooking”, and the kMix Stand Blender was recognised for being “a stand mixer combining iconic form and renowned function ensuring the most simple to the most indulgent recipe can be created”.

Winners will be announced on Friday 4 June 2010.
