MELBOURNE, VIC: Saeco Australia has taken over the distribution of the Gaggia brand of coffee machines from previous supplier Shriro.

This move aligns Gaggia with its global parent company, Saeco International Group, which is in turn owned by Philips.

Saeco Australia managing director Chris Egan said this is particularly good news for the local office.

“I think we’ve got some really good opportunities, partly helped because we’re going to have some exciting new models for release later this year,” he said.

Egan said Saeco had been working with Shriro to ensure a smooth transition. Once Saeco has settled into its position as distributor, Egan expects to launch a number of machines capable of attracting interest from consumers.

Importantly for retailers, there should be no disruption to warranty or product servicing. This was confirmed by Shriro MD Mike Westrup.

“We wish Saeco Australia all the best with Gaggia and we thank them for their cooperation and for absorbing the responsibility for handing all warranty and after sale support functions.”
