MELBOURNE, VIC: Hisense Australia will now be taking a more active role in the green direction of end-of-life appliances, with its head of marketing, Andre Iannuzzi joining the board of directors at Product Stewardship Australia (PSA).

“The electronics industry is working hard to ensure that our environment is protected for future generations by reducing the number of unwanted televisions going into landfill,” Iannuzzi said.

“As the father of a young son, I am acutely aware that it is necessary, socially desirable and economically responsible to collect and recycle e-waste. It is time to act now and I am delighted to be able to assist as a PSA director.”

According to the release, the PSA currently represents 70 per cent of television importers to Australia. Other members include Sony, Panasonic, Sharp and Sanyo. Hisense declared today that it supports the proposed scheme to collect and recycle end-of-life television sets. This scheme is to be funded by a levy charged on all importations.
