Acronis, a company traditionally known for its backup and disaster recovery software solutions, has now entered the competitive internet security market. The move was made to offer consumers a complete backup and security option in the same package.
Simon Howe, country manager for Acronis ANZ, met with the team at Current.com.au to discuss the launch of the new Acronis Backup and Security 2010 software.
According to Howe, the new offering will offer consumers three elements of home computer protection – local backup/disaster recovery, online backup and internet security.
“We have been listening to our consumers and they were looking for a more complete software offering,” he said.
“We want to deliver a complete information protection solution for our customers and extend on our reputation as a backup provider.”
With Acronis Backup and Security 2010, users can backup their systems locally for fast recovery of both data and their entire PC, which protects them against error, disk failures and systems failures. In addition, online backup provides remote location data protection in case of theft or physical disaster.
According to Howe, the new offering is licensed to protect up to three home computers and has 5GB of online storage. A premium edition is also slated for release in March 2009 and will offer consumers 250GB of online storage.
Acronis Backup and Security 2010 is available now for download at www.acronis.com.au for a RRP of $79.99. Howe said that the company was currently speaking with retailers to stock the product in their stores, but he highlighted that the primary objective was to successfully launch the product online first.
Acronis currently has a variety of its backup solutions in stores around the country including Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Dick Smith and Officeworks.
