LAS VEGAS, USA: Sharp Corporation has taken the traditional red, green, blue colour spectrum to a new level with the introduction of a yellow pixel creating Quad Pixel Technology.
Sharp’s proprietary four primary colour technology, which will be employed in a large number of its new LED televisions, allows more than a trillion colours to be displayed, rather than one billion which has traditionally been offered.
Sharp says its four primary colour technology truly expands the colour gamut that can be discerned with the unaided human eye. The technology enables the display to reproduce colours that have been difficult to portray using conventional LCD displays, such as the golden yellow colour of sunflowers or brass instruments.
Combined with Sharp’s 1080p X-Gen LCD panel, which incorporates UV2A Technology, the display offers a dramatic reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional fluorescent-backlight LCD TVs.
