Lexar Media Australia has recorded one of its best years on record in 2009, registering growth in all of its memory format categories, as well as taking the title of leading USB flash drive vendor in the ANZ region.

Leslie Adams, vice president of world wide marketing; Edward Moro, vice president of world wide sales; and Mathew Luu, marketing manager, ANZ and SE Asia, spoke with Current.com.au to discuss the extraordinary year and some of the future plans for the supplier in 2010.

“One of the key highlights for 2009 was the fact that we moved up to the number one position in the USB flash drive category, in regards to both units and revenue,” said Adams.

“In terms of memory cards, we are currently at the number two position and have seen a definite increase in the past year.”

Adams discussed some of the reasons for the company’s remarkable success in the past year.

“We have a really strong line-up of differentiated products, which have helped us grow overall,” she said.

“We have designed our products to address what our consumer’s want and need in regards to memory solutions.”

Throughout 2009, Lexar Media added a number of key retailers to its stockist lists, including Big W, Target and Dick Smith. Edward Moro commented on how this has helped the supplier in terms of sales.

“We went out looking for retailers that would reach our target demographics and the addition of retailers like Big W, Target and Dick Smith have really helped get our products out to the market,” he said.

“In terms of selling products in-store we don’t want to focus on just size and capacity, we want our consumers to get the product that is suited to their specific needs and wants.”
