Lexar Media Australia has outlined that the growing importance of USB flash drives for school students has made the back-to-school period the most successful time of the year for the category.

Lexar Media is currently running a consumer promotion based around the back-to-school selling period, where consumers can go in the running to receive over $20,000 worth of prizes, when they purchase a Lexar USB drive.

This period has now become one of the priority selling periods in the category and Mathew Luu, marketing manager, ANZ and SE Asia, discussed this in more detail.

“The back-to-school season is definitely the number one selling period for USB flash drives,” said Luu.

“It is now a requirement at many schools that students have a USB flash drive in their school bag.”

Many of PC vendors have announced that USB 3.0 technology will be incorporated into their notebooks and PCs in 2010 and Lexar Media is well prepared to meet this demand.

“We have always been an innovator in terms of all memory formats and we will continue this with USB 3.0,” said Leslie Adams, vice president of world wide marketing.

“As consumers need for capacity keeps growing we have to keep improving technology to keep up with the demand. At Lexar we will definitely have USB 3.0 compliant products on the market to support the new 3.0 input when it becomes readily available.”
