According to JB Hi-Fi CEO, Richard Uechtritz, the company’s Hill and Stewart branded stores are in the process of closing down or have been closed throughout New Zealand.

In an interview with Current.com.au, Uechtritz discussed the closures and the reasoning behind the decision.

“We are in the process of closing down remaining Hill and Stewart stores in New Zealand,” he said.

“The leases on these properties have now expired and we decided not to renew them.”

Uechtritz said that the decision was made so the company could focus on its JB Hi-Fi branded stores throughout the country.

“We have decided that we need to focus on what we do best and that is JB Hi-Fi,” he said.

The four remaining Hill and Stewart stores in New Zealand are located at Albany Mega Centre, Don McKinnon Drive, Albany; Botany Town Centre, Te Irirangi Drive, Botany Downs; Manukau Supa Centre, corner of Canvendish and Lambie Drive, Manukau City; and St Lukes Mega Centre, 9/1 Wagenar Place, St Lukes.

Uechtritz highlighted that JB Hi-Fi stores have a strong presence in New Zealand and are located in all of these same areas.
