Are you sick of accidentally ruining your favourite comic books or scared of taking them out of the packaging in hopes that one day they will become collector’s items? The new Digital Comics service for PSP has solved this problem.

Sony Computer Entertainment has recently released the new comic book reader for its handheld gaming device as well as a dedicated section in the Playstation Store. To access the new service, PSP users simply have to update to the latest 6.20 firmware and click on the Digital Comics icon under the Extras column on the XMB menu.

At launch there are hundreds of titles on offer and all the top name publishers like Marvel, IDW, Rebellion and Disney have come on board. Some of the familiar titles include Spiderman, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Transformers, Star Trek, Titan iVerse and 2000AD.

This service features a unique Autoflow Viewer that moves the reader from frame to frame and zooms in and out at the touch of a button.

Sony Computer Entertainment claims it mimics the way your eyes would move across a printed page from left to right.

The new service is available for all PSP models, including the PSP-1000, PSP-2000, PSP-3000 and PSPgo. Currently Australia, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa are able to access Digital Comics. The SCEE region, starting with France, Italy, Germany and Spain will be rolled out in 2010.
