A product recall alert has been announced on a brand of portable air conditioners sold through Bunnings Warehouse. The reason for the recall is because in extreme heat the unit can overheat and catch fire.

According to the recall statement, the Mistral Portable Air Conditioner with a model number MPAC60 – 9000 BTU Cooling, has been voluntarily recalled by the company.

This product was sold exclusively through Bunnings Warehouse stores in QLD, NT, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS and SA between August 2007 and April 2009.

According to Mistral, the defect may occur when the unit is subjected to extreme temperatures for an extended duration. This can cause the air conditioner to overheat and in rare cases it may catch fire.

If any consumer is currently using this product, they are being urged to immediately stop using it and return it to Bunnings Warehouse for a full refund of the purchase price.
