Last month we got the news that Ricoh would be releasing the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens camera in early 2010, the GXR. Official Australian pricing has now finally been confirmed.

The Ricoh GXR is a world’s first design, where the lens, image sensor and image processing engine are integrated into the camera units so the body itself does not contain an image sensor.

In terms of Australian pricing, the GXR camera body will be introduced at an RRP of $699, the A12 interchangeable camera unit with a 12 megapixel APS-C size sensor and GR prime lens will come at an RRP of $999, and the S10 interchangeable camera unit featuring a 10 megapixel sensor and Ricoh wide zoom lens will sold for an RRP of $649.

Ricoh has confirmed that a number of package deals will also be available to consumers.

The GXR, A12 camera unit and GXR accessories will be available exclusively through the Ricoh Pro G Dealer Network from 18 December 2009.

The S10 camera unit will become available in January 2010 and a third camera unit featuring a high magnification zoom telephoto lens will be released in early 2010.

A select few retailers will also feature ‘touch and try’ areas to give customers a chance to try out the new GXR for themselves and complete a hands on review.
