Research In Motion has just announced the availability of Blackberry App World for customers across Australia and New Zealand. The new service gives Blackberry smartphone users the ability to download a diverse range of free applications.

Blackberry App World went live on Friday 11 December 2009 at 2pm and is now available to download at mobile.blackberry.com or www.blackberry.com/appworld. Once installed App World will automatically present you with a relevant catalogue of applications which are available for your specific Blackberry model.

Adele Beachley, managing director of Research In Motion Australia and New Zealand, commented on the availability of this new service for its Australian and New Zealand customers.

“BlackBerry App World makes it very easy for our customers to discover and download a wide variety of applications for their BlackBerry smartphone,” she said.

“BlackBerry App World provides a fantastic new resource and enhanced experience for customers and an equally exciting business opportunity for RIM’s partners.”

Some of the popular applications available include: BlackBerry Messenger, Bloomberg Mobile, Daily Horoscope, Dictionary.com – Dictionary and Thesaurus, Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones, Flickr for BlackBerry Smartphones, ipass, Mippin, MySpace, Navita Translator, Nobex Radio Companion, ProOnGo Express, The Weather Channel, Tune Wiki, UberTwitter, Viigo, Vlingo, WorldMate Live: Travel Like a Pro, and World News.
