D-Link has just released a new USB adaptor that is designed to give consumers a cost-effective way to upgrade the wireless network performance on their desktop or notebook computer.

The DWA-131 Wireless N Nano USB Adaptor, connects using 802.11n Wi-Fi technology so users can access high speed internet services, transfer files and stream media anywhere they like.

The fact that the device uses 802.11n technology means that the speed and range of wireless signals will outperform 802.11g devices. D-Link said that the device is compatible with existing 802.11b/g wireless routers and access points.

“With its unique ‘Firefly’ design and unmatched performance, this ultra-portable USB adapter is an ideal choice for setting up a secure, high-performance wireless connection,” said Maurice Famularo, marketing director for D-Link Australia and New Zealand.

One of the main selling points of the Wireless N Nano USB Adaptor is its ease of setup. All consumers need to do is insert the installation disk then connect the device to any USB port. The DWA-131 uses Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to establish a connection with the access point or router, eliminating the need for encryption codes. WPS also features numerous security features to keep consumers safe while online.

The D-Link DWA-131 Wireless N Nano USB Adaptor is currently available for a RRP of $79.
