Telstra CEO David Thodey has just confirmed that Glenice Maclellan will be coming on board as acting group managing director of Telstra Consumer when David Moffatt leaves at the end of November.

Moffatt’s resignation was announced last month but the exact time of his departure was then still unknown, as was the identity of his successor.

Thodey confirmed that Maclellan’s appointment was effective immediately but Moffatt will assist with the transition until the end of November.

Thodey was very thankful for the role Moffatt has played in the company since joining in 2001.

“David has been a highly valued leader of this company throughout a period of enormous change and I join all of my colleagues at Telstra in wishing him all the very best for the future,” Thodey said.

“David has played a leadership role at Telstra during a time that has seen a fundamental shift in the way our customers are using telecommunications services, including massive take up of mobile services, broadband, wireless broadband, and Foxtel. David has driven significant growth and change in our consumer retail business with the introduction of the Next G network and the new T[life] retail environment.”

Moffatt was confident Telstra will continue its success in the future.

“The leadership, depth and business capability of this team is extraordinary. I wish them every success and know Glenice will do an outstanding job as acting leader,” he said.

Ms Maclellan has been with the company since 2006 and recently held the position of executive director of category marketing and operations in Telstra Consumer. Peter Jamieson will temporarily fill the role left by Maclellan and continue his normal responsibilities as executive director business performance.
