Nokia today issued a statement to reassure its Australian and New Zealand customers that a recent charger exchange program initiated overseas, does not impact customers locally.

According to the release, the charger exchange program only applies to a limited number of chargers of certain models and these models have different plugs and pins than are used in Australia and New Zealand.

“None of the specific chargers within the scope of this program have been sold in Australia or New Zealand through authorised channels,” said the company in a statement.

Nokia is urging customers who have bought a charger in another country to check if it is part of the new exchange program by visiting a website at http://chargerexchange.nokia.com.

“Nokia recommends consumers with chargers within the scope of this exchange program to stop using the charger and exchange it for a free replacement.”
