Nespresso has bolstered its star studded line up of celebrity endorsers in its latest TVC. Not only does it have its regular stable mate in George Clooney sipping on the quality brew, it now has the likes of John Malkovich as well to heighten its celebrity appeal.

The new TVC was created by McCann Paris and directed by Robert Rodriguez and features Clooney on the hunt for a new Nespresso machine when he is suddenly hit by a falling piano, killing him. Clooney then awakes in the next world and meets a spiritual John Malkovich who grants him another shot at life, but only if he hands over his new Nespresso coffee machine.

“Our new ad is a departure from the traditional Nespresso/Clooney storyline, which tends to feature George charming the women in a boutique setting,” said Renaud Tinel, general manager of Nespresso Oceania.

“With its daring storyline and plenty of humour, the new TVC is sure to delight both coffee connoisseurs and fans of George and John alike. Not only are both men extraordinary actors, they also have a tremendous ability to treat their audiences to moments of excitement and pleasure. And that, in essence, is what Nespresso is all about—providing highest-quality premium portioned coffee, which has the ability to make an ordinary moment truly extraordinary.”

Tinel discussed the addition of Malkovich and how he accompanies Clooney perfectly.

“In creating this new campaign, we were delighted to work with John Malkovich for the first time. Mr Malkovich is an actor of the highest calibre, who provides the perfect accompaniment to George Clooney. As a long-time Nespresso Club Member, he is also very knowledgeable about Nespresso Grands Crus. In fact, he has Nespresso machines at his homes in both France and in the United States.”

The new TVC will run in Australia from 22 November 2009.
